What is Smartstone Quartz Made of?
Smartstone quartz surfaces are manufactured with a minimum of 93% Natural Quartz, combined with pigments and resins, making the surface highly durable. Smartstone quartz surfaces can be used in virtually any residential or commercial indoor surfacing application and are the ideal choice for kitchen benchtops, splashbacks, bathroom vanities, bath surrounds and wall panelling due to their non-porous quality.
What is Smartstone Porcelain Made Of?
Smartstone porcelain is an ultra-compact, non-porous, NSF-approved, heat, chemical, and stain-resistant ceramic product. Smartstone carefully selected eleven superb surfaces from Atlas Plan’s European range to offer a porcelain collection tailored to Australian style and tastes. Based in Italy, Atlas Plan is renowned worldwide for its surfaces that perfectly reproduce the colours and textures of marble, natural stone and some of the world’s most innovative designer materials.

Is Smartstone Suitable as a Kitchen Benchtop?
Yes. Both Smartstone quartz and porcelain surfaces are virtually non-porous and perfectly suited for residential kitchen benchtops, commercial kitchen areas and other food preparation areas. Smartstone benchtops are compliant with the International Health and Safety Foundation sanitary standard NSF51 that guarantees its quartz-based surfaces are safe for use in all food environments.
Smartstone benchtops give you the beauty of natural stone but with a more durable surface. Quartz is one of the hardest minerals on earth, and therefore, Smartstone offers superior durability and the practical benefits of being: heat resistant, scratch resistant, stain resistant, chip resistant, chemical resistant, non-porous and mould & mildew resistant.
Smartstone benchtops are designed to offer high performance with low maintenance and are non-porous. Smartstone benchtops will never need sealing or waxing. Only a little common sense is needed to care for your Smartstone surface.
Plus, Smartstone quartz is heat resistant and not affected by temperatures lower than 180C. Although, like all stone benchtops, Smartstone can be damaged by sudden and rapid heat changes (this is called thermal shock), so it is always recommended that hot pots and pans never be placed directly on a Smartstone surface but onto a heat trivet or chopping board. Placing hot pots or pans on your benchtop can also cause your benchtop to scorch due to the resin content.
Is Smartstone Suitable as a Bathroom Vanity Top?
Yes. Both Smarstone quartz and porcelain surfaces are ideal for bathroom vanity tops and bath surroundings as the materials are completely non-porous, mould resistant and mildew resistant.
